Gold Star for Steve

Steve Burton is Soaps-In-Depth's Outstanding Performer
| Spinelli has it all
wrong. It's time for him to re-think Jason's nick name. No
longer is he the icy "Stone Cold" he once was. The steely stare has
given way to eyes that tear with both joy and pain, while the cocksure
confidence in his every move has been replaced with the uncertainty of his
decisions. Is it best for him to give up his son so Lucky and
Elizabeth can raise him together? Playing that emotional conundrum
is not an easy task, but Steve Burton has come to master it. Thanks
to him, there's definitely warm blood running through Stone Cold's veins! It's A Boy: Jason scooped up Elizabeth and rushed her to General Hospital when he found her bleeding on the floor. "I'm going to get you some help," he said, trying to calm her. Although he was holding it together for her sake, it was apparent that just below the surface, he was terrified for her and their baby. When he finally got her to the hospital, he watched through a window as they performed a C section. Then the unthinkable happened -- the doctors need to jump start her heart and give the baby CPR. Panic swept over Jason like it never had before. With his adrenaline and fear running unthinkably high, if he had the know-how, he would have leapt through the E.R. door and brought them both back to life himself! A Life-Changing Decision! Liz and the baby eventually stabilized. Holding the tiny boy in his arms, "I'm your father," Jason said softly, instantly in love and forever changed. But then reality hit him, causing Jason's heart to sink, when Lucky, too, introduced himself to the newborn as "your daddy." Suddenly, Elizabeth's monitor went off, and she was rushed to the OR. A frantic Jason ran to the hospital roof for some air. After being confronted by an insistent Lulu and pacing off some anxiety, Jason wiped away a tear and managed to crack a smile when Spinelli showed up and asked if he held his son yet. Jason got choked up as he nodded yes. "It was incredible," he sniffed. He finally had a son, but gave his word that he wouldn't claim him. The Eyes Have It! Words? Who needs words when Burton can perfectly express his character's every thought and feeling through his soulful eyes. It's like we can see the wheels of indecision spinning in Jason's head. "What do I do"? The attention Burton pays to the slightest emotional detail makes his performances gripping and hard to escape. We just want to stare into his eyes and assure him it's okay to feel. Stone Cold? That was the old Jason Morgan SID - 6/19/07 |
