"I love Him"

At long last, Liz finds herself admitting to Lucky what we've all known for months.  She loves Jason!  But, the conflicted heroine is quick to assure her devastated spouse, that she loves him too, saying she opted to remain with him when it came time to raise a family.  Meanwhile, Sam wants nothing more than to se Jason and explain why she sat back and watched as his son was kidnapped.  After a chat with Amelia, Nikolas begins to suspect that the producer has something on her rising star, but Sam finds a way to throw him off the track so that she can focus on what's really important.  But by the time Sam gets into Pentonville and tries telling Jason her sie of the story, it may prove to be far too late.

"When somebody has such a huge lie or secret that they've been keeping, it's going to weigh on the relationship," says Steve Burton in what may be the understatement of the year.  "Unfortunately, it's gone beyond the truth thing.  If you see someone's kid being kidnapped and you didn't say anything, you might as well have done it yourself."

It probably doesn't help that Sam basically puts the blame for her actions at her lover's feet, claiming that his lies regarding the paternity of Liz's baby pushed her to the breaking point.  "All she wanted was for him to not cut her out of this," explain Kelly Monaco.  "This is the most important thing he'll ever go through!"

Will Sam Tell All?

In the end, Sam and Jason's relationship crumbles under the weight of the secrets and lies each have kept for months.  What might be surprising is that it is Sam, not Jason, who calls it quits.  Bitter over everything that has happened, the hurting young woman even goes so far as to play the one card she has left in her hand by threatening to tell Lucky who really fathered Jake, JASON.

Jason, however, isn't the kind of guy to be caught without an ace tucked up his sleeve, and he threatens to have her charged as an accomplice in Jake's kidnapping if she doesn't keep quiet about the tot's paternity.  Furious that he is still choosing to protect his precious Elizabeth, Sam lashes out, accusing the man she once loved of ruining their relationship with lies.  Although he tries explaining that his only interest is in doing what is right for Jake, Sam's heard enough.  Taking off the star necklace he gave her, she leaves it behind as she walks away from both Jason and the love the shared.

Has Liz Lost Lucky?

Spinelli swings by to visit Jason and is stunned to learn that Stone Cold and The Goddess have called it quits.  Across town, Sam shares this same news with Liz and Lucky upon crossing paths with the couple in the park.  After Sam makes it clear that she blames Liz for this sad turn of events, Lucky suddenly leaves.  Upon returning, he tell Liz that she been cleared to visit Jason whenever she wants.  Although Liz insists that she wants to be with her husband, he finds it tough to believe her words, given how she feels about his rival. 

"Liz does love Lucky," shares head writer Robert Guza.  "Very much so.  We're watching what I hope is a root-for couple put to the test.  Not only Lucky and Liz but Jason and Sam as well."

Sonny's Advice

The next person to visit Jason is Sonny, who listens to his pal speak of his recent heartbreak.  Sonny's suggestion?  Tell Lucky the truth about Jake ASAP.  But Jason has no intention of doing so, once again pointing out that he'd be a dangerous person for a kid to have in their life.

Sam is surprised when Lucky stops by to share with her the "news" that Liz loves Jason.  Even as he asks Sam if Jason feels the same way toward his wife, Liz is at Pentonville admitting to the jailed hunk that she doesn't want to hide her feelings for him any longer!

Catfight

Sam gives Lucky an earful about Jason and Liz, stopping just short of telling him about Jake.  Amelia later accuses her employee of going after Lucky as a way of seeking revenge, but Sam denies having any interest in the sexy cop.  If anyone is happy with the current situation, it's Carly, who congratulates her pal on having dumped Sam, only to be shocked when he admits it was the other way around.  Apparently upset by this unexpected twist, Carly blasts Sam for having hurt her pal, and the two get into a nasty altercation which soon turns physical.  Before things can get too far out of hand, the altercation is interrupted when Diane arrives with the police, who want to search the penthouse.

Jason Plays the Hero

When both she and Sam are subpoenaed to testify at Jason's rapidly approaching trial, Liz fears that her secret may be revealed on the stand.  And when Jason is transferred from Pentonville back to the Port Chard PD, things go awry as shots are fired.  Conveniently enough, Amelia and her EVERYDAY HEROS staff happen to be taping the event.  In the aftermath, Ric tries using the hail of bullets as yet another nail in Jason's coffin, but Amelia surprises Sam's ex -- by offering to help clear his name.  But when Jason's trial finally gets underway, will one of the many people who knows the truth about Jake wind up revealing the secret he's worked so hard to keep hidden?
