Steve was born in Indianapolis, Indiana but was raised in Cleveland Ohio , before settling in California as a teen ager. He graduated from Beverly Hills High School.

General Hospital is not Steve's first daytime gig. He previously played Harris Michaels on NBC's Days of Our lives.

In addition to acting, Steve enjoys sports. He is said to excel at virtually every sport but he most enjoys surfing.

In addition to winning the daytime Emmy in 1998 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a daytime drama series, Steve was nominated for this same award in 1997.

He was also nominated for the Soap Opera Digest Award in 1993/1994 for Outstanding Younger Leading Actor before he won the award in 1997. He won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 1998 and again in 2003.

Steve is the voice of Cloud Strife in the video game "Kingdom Hearts." and the DVD, "Final Fantasy VII, Children's Advent."

2005 - Nominated for a daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor.
